Plateau State University Students Protest VC’s Suspension
The students of Plateau State University (PLASU), Bokkos staged a protest on Monday over what they described as unnecessary and undue interference in the administration of the school by the state government.
The protest which was led by the Students’ Union Government (SUG) President, Mr. Matthew Dafoum, saw the students barricade the school gate and chased away all lecturers and students reporting for work.
The President of the SUG said the protest was peaceful as what the students demanded was legitimate.
He said the students were not happy at what was happening in the university especially the suspension of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Danjuma Sheni.
Dafoum called on the authorities to expedite action on accreditation of courses as it has been eight years since the institution started without full accreditation.
100 to 300 level, who were about to start their examinations were prevented from doing so by the protesting student.
